Product description

Unassembled 1/72 scale accessories set depicting late WWII German aircraft missiles and bombs to use in other models.

Box contains 32 x SC50 bombs and 4 x SC250 bombs.

The SC50 bomb was a family of general purpose bombs used by the Germans in the WWII, the SC50 bomb boasted eight variants, manufactured through various methods ranging from one-piece drawn steel bodies to separate steel pieces welded together. Their weight ranged from 48 kilograms (106 lb) to 55 kilograms (121 lb). Typically, the bomb was loaded with a mixture of 40% amatol and 60% Trotyl. However, when employed as an anti-shipping weapon, it was filled with Trialen, a blend comprising 15% hexogen, 70% Trotyl, and 15% aluminum powder.

For versatility, the SC 50 could be equipped with either an anti-ricochet adapter for anti-ship applications or a Stabo Spike to maintain bomb stability and trigger detonation before burying itself for anti-personnel purposes. Its adaptable design allowed for vertical or horizontal suspension in a bomb bay, or horizontal mounting on a wing or fuselage hardpoint.

The SC250 was an air-dropped general-purpose high-explosive bomb. Compatible with nearly all German bomber aircraft, it notably found success when utilized by the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka (Sturzkampfflugzeug or dive-bomber). Weighing approximately 250 kg, its nomenclature derived from this weight.

Deployed across various theaters, including the Eastern Front, the SC 250 earned a reputation for its destructive capability. Widely feared for its power, it became one of the most frequently used bombs during World War II and widely used in the Blitz on London (190-1941).
